The East of England APPG met with Local Government East and Baroness Taylor to discuss transport infrastructure in the East of England. Baroness Taylor said the Government recognises that new towns and growth locations in the East of England face complex transport infrastructure challenges, particularly where they interact with the Strategic Road Network. National Highways is considering requirements on the A1, exploring targeted A12 interventions in Essex after the Chelmsford scheme was cancelled, and investing around £500m in A47 dualling. She said replacing Trowse swing bridge is not currently a priority, though local partners should build a case and seek funding. Ely and Haughley upgrades remain under review, with future progress dependent on funding, while DfT remains the lead department. See the full response here.
